While the country, specially Chandigarh is preparing for a big program to mark International Yoga Day on June 21, the Khadi & Village Industries Commission of India has also prepared for it.
Acting on the advice of Ministry of Ayush, KVIC has developed Yoga kits of Khadi, designed by National Institute Design (NID). The kit includes clothes for men and women, Khadi mat and Khadi napkin, informed Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman, Khadi & Village Industries Commission while interacting with media persons in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
Answering a question on brand ambassador, Sexena said that PM Modi was the biggest brand ambassador of Khadi, which was now attracting foreign tourists also
Sexena said that the commission was not approaching various government departments to adopt Khadi. He quoted the example of railways department where earlier orders ranging between Rs. one to two crores but recently it got the order from the railways for Rs. 40 crores. Similarly it got the orders from Air India also.
Vinai Kumar Saxena also talked about various other schemes. He said that the commission had also decided to adopt about 200 villages in the country to be developed as smart villages.
