Panchkula police have busted a six member gang involved in gambling and amount of about Rs. 1.28 lakhs and playing cards have been recovered from their den in a sector 9 house.
The police commissioner Ambala, Dr. R C Mishra, through a press release informed that the said house owned by M R Singh, a resident of Karnal who had given it on rent to one Gaurav alias Neetu, who started gambling business from the house.
The police had got the information about illegal gambling racket, based on which the crime branch had raided the house on Monday evening. Large number of packs of playing cards and cash was recovered from the spot.
The arrested persons include, Gaurav alias Neetu, resident of Dhakoli, Ankit Wadhwan, resident of sector 36, Chandigarh, Mrinal Manna resident of Chandimandir and Sehajpal alias Naveen, resident of Bhatinda. Two more persons namely Varinder Joshi alias Veeru and Parkash Joshi both residents of Champawat in Uttrakhand, were presently living in the house being used as gambling den, Mishra stated.
