Massive earthquake of 7.7 magnitude cause panic in North India

Strong tremors caused panic among the people in North India on Monday afternoon. The Earthquake measured at 7.7 magnitude on Richter scale had its epicentre in the Hindukush in Afghanistan hit the region around 2.40 PM.

The panic among people was on its peak to find the shaking high-rise buildings all across north India.

As people from across the region felt the tremors, the visuals from television news channels showed people running the panicked people ran out of their houses, offices and other establishments.

There were no reports of any causality or major damage in India.

Visual from Pakistan also showed people sitting in the streets after the tremors. According to reports, at least 55 have been killed and over 600 have been injured in Pakistan

From Afghanistan also, there are reports of death of 18 people, including 12 schoolgirls at separate places.

In Panchkula, Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij was the chief guest in a function to mark completion of one year of BJP led state government. The guests and those attending the function immediately vacated the Inderdhanush auditorium after they felt the tremors.
