Make efforts to make Haryana defecation-free by December, 2016- Rakesh Gupta to officers

Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr. Rakesh Gupta has asked the Haryana officers to make concerted efforts to make the towns and villages open defecation-free by December, 2016. Gupta said this while holding a video conference with DCs and Municipal Commissioners, Dr Gupta reviewed the progress made under the Swacchh Bharat Mission (Urban and Rural) in the state.

Gupta also directed them to achieve the target of making all towns urination-free by the end of October this year. He also reviewed the progress of individual household latrines and directed the officers to supervise it personally to achieve the desired results. The Director, Urban Local Bodies, Vikas Gupta, and Director, Development and Panchayat, Ashok Kumar Meena, were also present.

Gupta also reviewed the circle-wise progress made by the Power Department in achieving the targets to bring down the Aggregate Technical and Commercial losses on industrial feeders, independent feeders and urban feeders by June 30, 2016. The losses on 263 rural domestic feeders should be brought down to less than 20 per cent under the ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ scheme.
