Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed the petition seeking stay on release of film Sarabjit, based on the life of Indian prisoner in Pakistan, facing the charges of involvement in bomb blast. While in a Pak jail, Sarabjit was killed.

The petitioner, Manjit Singh Ratu, in his petition before high court, had stated that in this movie, he had been projected negatively.

Sarabjit’s family has been leveling allegations that Sarabjit Singh faced the ordeal of trial and death sentence because of Ratu as it was actually Ratu who was involved in bomb blasts in Pakistan.

Manjit Singh Ratu stated that the story projected in the film was false so the film’s release be stayed.

However Justice R K Jain held that this seemed more of a publicity stunt and without hearing the respondents, the release of film could not be stayed.

In this movie, the character of Sarabjit Singh has been played by Randeep Hooda while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has played the role of his sister.
