More than 100 vacancies in various high courts would be filled in next six months, this was stated by Justice T S Thakur, the Chief Justice of India in Patiala on Saturday. Justice T S Thakur was the chief guest in third convocation of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law. Justice A R Dave of Supreme Court presided over the function while Justice S J L Vazifdar, acting chief justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court awarded the degrees.
Justice Thakur said that as the number had touched 450, the center had written a letter seeking appointments under existing collegium system till the procedure for recruitment was not modified. Accordingly, the recruitment process had been resumed.
Answering a question on long pending demand of separate high courts for Punjab and Haryana, Justice Thakur said that as such there was no proposal.
