Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lambasted Parkash Singh Badal led SAD-BJP alliance government in Punjab for its failure to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the state which has led to the murder of 88 year old Chand Kaur, wife of late Namdhari sect head Jagjit Singh, near Ludhiana during the daylight on Monday.
AAP senior leader Himmat Singh Shergill said that the day light murder of Chand Kaur portrays that anti social and unruly elements in the state had no fear of the law enforcing agencies in the state and they know they could do anything heinous and get away with it.
“Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal is a failed home minister of the state and he must quit immediately owning moral responsibility for his inability to secure the lives of the common man. He has failed to install a sense of security among the people of Punjab and is rather busy expanding his business empire instead of focusing on the governance of the state”, said Shergill.
Chand Kaur, wife of late Jagjit Singh, the immediate former Namdhari sect head, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Ludhiana on Monday morning. She succumbed to her injuries at around 2 pm.
According to available information, unidentified assailants opened fire on Mata Chand Kaur at Bhaini Sahib gurudwara injuring her critically.
Police sources said the 88-year-old was hit by two bullets – one in the abdomen and other below her ear.
Two men fired gunshot at her inside the gurudwara and fled away, causing panic in the area. Heavy police force have been deployed after the incident.
