Confederation of Indian Industry hails the decision of the Union Government to include Chandigarh, Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Faridabad (Haryana), Dharamsala (Himachal Pradesh), in the list for Smart City Project. CII is committed to contribute its expertise and resources towards the growth and development of these cities, said Regional Director, CII Northern Region, Babu Khan.
With this announcement, partnership of CII with Chandigarh Administration for the development of Chandigarh has reached a major milestone. CII and UT Administration had also signed a MoU for Smart City Project in September 2015. For Dharamsala Smart City Project also, CII has extended all support to the Himachal Government. CII reaffirms its commitment to the project aimed at realising the dreams and aspirations of people of the City Beautiful, Babu Khan added.
“Through its industry network and outreach, CII is committed to bring in global expertise as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Urban Development and to work with the state governments based on domestic best practices,” Khan further added.
“Chandigarh has now got its fair share of being a fast track ‘Smart City’, which its citizens richly deserve. A rich tribute to all involved in this rearguard action of getting Chandigarh to the list of Smart Cities where it belongs. Real work will begin now to realise the dreams of the inhabitants of Chandigarh. CII reaffirms its complete commitment to Chandigarh Administration to work together & ensure that Chandigarh becomes the ‘Smartest City’ in India & later on in the world,” Dr Dinesh Dua, Chairman, CII Chandigarh Council.
Sanjay Khurana, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh Council said, “It is heartening to know that Dharamsala has been selected in the list of Smart cities for which CII has already extended all support to the Himachal Government. Through its National Council on Smart Cities, CII will work towards realizing the dream of fast paced growth and development for Himachal Pradesh.”
In a list declared by union government on Tuesday, 10 cities had been declared as smart city.
