Elections for two RS seats from Haryana on June 11

Election for two seats of Rajya Sabha would be held on June 11, 2016. The two are seats to be vacated due to the retirement of Birender Singh and Prabhu Suresh Prabhakar, sitting Members of Rajya Sabha on August 1, 2016.

While stating this here today, Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Vijay Singh Dahiya said that the Commission had appointed the Secretary and Joint Secretary, Haryana Vidhan Sabha as Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer respectively for the biennial Election.

Dahiya said that the last date of making nominations would be May 31 and scrutiny of nominations would be held on June 1. He said that June 3 would be the last date of withdrawal of candidature.

Poll would be held in the old committee room of Haryana Vidhan Sabha Secretariat from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 11. Counting of votes would be held by the Returning Officers at 5 p.m. on the same day. The elections would be completed before June 13. He said that all necessary arrangements were being made for the conduct of free, fair and smooth elections.
