Taking a major step towards providing better transport facilities to the people of the State using Information Technology (IT), the Haryana Transport Department would soon launch e-Ticketing system in Haryana Roadways buses.
Giving this information in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Haryana Transport Minister, Krishan Lal Panwar, said that under this system, conductors would be provided with machines with codes corresponding to various locations on the route. The conductor would enter the code corresponding to the stop indicated by the passenger, and ticket would be printed after automatic calculation of the fare. He added that this process would be monitored at the depot and headquarters levels.
The Minister said that this e-Ticketing system would not only make the ticketing process transparent, but would also help the department in framing schemes related to route planning. It would also ensure that the officers of the department were provided with accurate information pertaining to the number of passengers travelling in a particular bus at a given time.
Panwar said that the implementation of the scheme would also facilitate the conductors as the ticketing process would require significantly less time and they would not have to fill out route proformas.
