Haryana government is preparing a scheme for the establishment of about 1,000 ‘yogshalas’ by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, this was stated by Health Minister, Anil Vij in Chandigarh on Monday.
The Health Minister was replying to a question during the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
Vij said that as brand ambassador, Swami Ramdev had consented to work for the promotion of Yoga and Ayurveda in the State. Under his guidance, the state government would run Yoga and Vyayamshalas in all 6,500 villages in the state. People of all sections of the society would be trained in Yoga, Ayurveda and local sports in these centres, he added.
The Minister said that the state government would organise functions for spreading awareness about Yoga and Ayurveda, where Swami Ramdev would be invited. The government would also use photographs of Swami Ramdev on hoardings, banners and posters for spreading awareness about Yoga and Ayurveda.
Vij said that the Forest Department was also planning to set up a herbal forest with the technical advice and guidance of Patanjali Yogpeeth for regeneration of herbal plants in Morni Hills.
